New for 2009...
The Roster of New Boat Brite Products for 2009 is as follows:
Boat Brite Clear Bottom Coating
Boat Brite Bio-Barrier
Boat Brite Teak Preserver
Boat Brite Hard Water Spots and Deposits Remover
Boat Brite Inflatable Cleaner
Boat Brite Clear Bottom Coating
This product has been years in the making and I can proudly say that it is a definite winner. The Boat Brite Clear Bottom Coating has been in field testing for three years on fiberglass and aluminum hulls and on out drives, trim tabs and all submerged running gear on some of the most vegetation-rich lakes and bays we have access to
The Boat Brite Clear Bottom Coat is not an antifouling paint and contains no algaecides, pesticides or biocides. It is environmentally benign, non-toxic and VOC-free. It dries crystal clear and super hard and prevents the “rooting” of fouling into porous gel coat and aluminum. The ingenious chemistry, requires NO sanding or typical scuffing prep. Instead, a simple wipe down with Isopropyl Alcohol will remove any wax or grease, and will leave your hull ready for application
Due to the very hard and slick finish all boats in our three year field test (both power and sail) enjoyed increased speed/efficiency going through the water. The increase ranged between 7% to 15.5%. High performance powerboats and competitive sailboats enjoyed the increase as speed and larger cruising boats enjoyed the efficiency of cruising at the same rpms while traveling faster, ultimately using significantly less fuel.
Boats used regularly will remain virtually fouling-free due to the friction of the hull passing through water. Boats used periodically may see a very pale covering of your typical scummy fouling, BUT this light algae film will disappear with just a quick wipe with a cloth or brush. Boats rarely used where even with antifouling paint have a “lawn” growing on the bottom are able to be completely cleaned of this fouling with just high pressure water – no acid is needed – and this is significant as the environmental agencies along most of our waterways have imposed strict regulations on marinas and boatyards that bottom wash boats - especially using acid.
The optically-clear coating can be safely applied to fiberglass and aluminum boats and all underwater running gear including out drives, props, trim tabs etc.
Application is done with a brush, low-nap roller or micro-fiber mop. One coat will protect the bottom of your boat for up to two full seasons. Go to our web site or call me for detailed instructions www.boatbrite.com

Boat Brite Teak Preserver
VERY EFFECTIVE ON ANY WOOD!!
WORKS GREAT ON BOATS AND AT HOME FOR OUTDOOR WOOD FURNITURE, DECKS OR SIDING!!
Any of you boaters who still have teak onboard be it trim, decks or swim platforms, this is the product we have all been waiting for!! The Teak Preserver is not a coating but rather a penetrating liquid that leaves the wood a beautiful Palomino Blonde color (much like new or freshly cleaned teak when it is damp) – a most desirable color AND it will keep your wood looking this beautiful for many months.
Gorgeous NATURAL looking wood and no cumbersome refinishing!!
VERY LOW MAINTENANCE!!
The Teak Preserver is a water-based, polymer-infused liquid that when applied to new or freshly cleaned teak will penetrate into the grain and form a sub-surface barrier. This barrier will prohibit the intrusion of airborne and waterborne particulates and dirt which are often petro-carbon based and will quickly darken your teak and act as a magnet for other dirt. The Teak Preserver will also shield against accidental spills of beverages, dressings, vinaigrettes, lotions and even our pesky flying friends. They simply rinse or wipe off – even if left to sit in the sun for hours.
And this protection will last for many months – even in tropical conditions.
Maintenance can be as little as a regular rinse with freshwater however we do recommend you clean your treated teak with the Boat Brite Super Soap using a soft deck brush. The Super Soap is powerful yet very mild and when rinsed overboard adds no toxicity or phosphates to our waterways.
Application is easy. First deep clean your teak with the Boat Brite Teak Cleaner which is a ready-to-use, non-toxic, acid-free product. Rinse well and allow to completely dry.
Apply Boat Brite Teak Preserver with a brush, low-nap roller or a micro-fiber mop.
Coverage varies due to different conditions of your wood. Average coverage is 50sq ft – 100sq ft.
Boat Brite Hard Water and Minerals Remover
Many of our freshwater lakes are mineral-rich. These waters are often called “hard water” and have a varying content of calcium, magnesium, lime or iron. These minerals leave a residue that is especially easy to see on the windshield or clear vinyl enclosures. When this residue is sun-dried it is really difficult to remove.
If your boat is kept in the water during the season, this mineral residue will develop a “crust” on your hull and out drive from the splashing of waves. This crust will continue to build-up and is even more difficult to remove than the hard water spots from spray and wake.
I keep my boat on a bay off Lake Ontario that is especially rich in calcium and this along with our field testers from MN, IN, MI and NC, whose lakes together represent any possible mineral found in the lakes here in the US and Canada. All of the testers and myself are very pleased with the ease and quickness of the removal of spots and buildup using the Boat Brite Hard Water and Minerals Remover.
And, if your boat is in salt water we all know that without regular wash down of the salt buildup, a crusty opaque film will develop. We tested the product in the waters of coastal North Carolina and even boats left unattended for over a year where the salt build-up on the glass, clear vinyl enclosures and all fiberglass surfaces was sunburned in and rock hard, we cleaned this build-up quickly and easily!
Hard Water & Mineral Deposit Remover REMOVES SALT BUILD-UP FAST!!
The product is concentrated and can be diluted. I left it full strength because in certain applications full strength is needed – such as on boats kept in the water all season on my bay. Literally, at then end of the season, the thickness of calcium crust could (with the right device) actually be measured. In MN, a 1:1 dilution worked great on the iron-based spots and residue. Other lakes required varying levels of concentration from 1part product to 5 parts water to 1:10 – all depends on the water. You’ll be the judge for your particular application. But in every location the Boat Brite Hard Water and Minerals Remover worked very well!
Hard Water & Mineral Deposit Remover is made with health and environment conscientious chemistry for tough freshwater and saltwater surface care problems!
Boat Brite Inflatable Cleaner - Available in 2010
I have been requested over the last couple years to develop a cleaner of inflatable dinghies and small boats - that really works. I guess there’s not much of a selection and the performance is marginal.
We didn't’t have any trouble finding dirty inflatables for testing and we even went to some of the outdoor basketball courts to test the prototype products on dirty basketballs – very similar material. Trying to shoot hoops with a ½ bright orange basketball is a little distracting – so we cleaned the other half for the guys.
Bottom line, we have created a real powerful (but safe) cleaner for all inflatables – there are two different fabrics used by the many manufacturers.
The Boat Brite Inflatable Cleaner is a spray and wipe formula but we thickened it – aka, Thixotropic, (ketchup is thixotropic) to allow the product to remain intact even on a vertical surface. Makes cleaning these semi-spherical boats a lot easier.
