This stripper is unique and a treat to work with. The product is non-toxic and non-caustic. Its performance is exceptional and what really set’s it apart is the consistency and the application. The stripper is thixotropic and trigger sprayable.
Thixotropic is best described using ketchup as an example. Trying to get ketchup from the traditional twist off bottle you need to shake and tap and a host of other techniques to get the ketchup out of the bottle. When ketchup is in a squeeze bottle, a quick compression of the bottle and the ketchup easily comes out.
When the trigger sprayer is squeezed, the thick paint and varnish stripper easily leaves the bottle. The trigger sprayer allows you to manage the application by selecting from a wide to narrow spray fan. And the thixotropic paint and varnish stripper will stay intact and not drip (even on vertical surfaces) until it is heavy with the softened coating. It will stay wet and continue working for hours.
The performance is superior. The stripper will soften multiple coats of premium varnish and single part paints in one application. The length of time needed to soften the coatings varies, but in a field test, the stripper softened and allowed for easy removal, 10 coats of a premium varnish from the toe rails of an Island Packet 34 in about an hour. This was done outdoors on the Chesapeake Bay
Remove the softened coating with traditional tools or a scotch-brite pad. To remove any residual simply wipe with a damp cloth. This can also be done after a light sanding of the wood.
